The Indonesian city of Jakarta, located on the northwest coast of the island of Java, is the capital and largest city in Indonesia. Today it boasts a population in excess of 10 million, but it can celebrate a rich history. Whilst it has been known as Jakarta since 1972, between 1942 and 1972 it was known as Djakarta, and prior to that date it was called Batavia.
The Puloma racecourse hosts horse shows, show jumping and dressage, but also entertains the inhabitants of East Jakarta with horse racing. In 1972 the racecourse issued annual Members badges, rare examples of which are shown below.
